This week, some of our classes earned their reward day! At the beginning of every class, I write the word "MUSIC" on the board. As long as everyone is doing their job, we keep the letters on the board. If it starts to get a little wild in the room, or we are having trouble re-focusing, we might lose a letter. But...we can always earn the letter back if we are kind, do our jobs and are respectful! The goal is to have all the letters on the board at the end of the class. If we do that, we get a sticker. When we fill up our sticker chart, we get something AWESOME!!
Four classes earned their reward this week. Each class voted for a game for the end of class. Some classes chose freeze dance (my personal favourite!) and the other two classes chose a game called "Wax Museum". I am very proud of the effort the students have put into practicing and perfecting our routines. It takes lots of patience (for the students and the teacher), but it is worth it. I am excited for everything we can accomplish in arts education this year in a calm and respectful classroom environment!
